From the minute we pulled in we dealt with wonderful people, and had a great time.

My boy CJ (who is nine) got a big handshake from Mr. Hausmann who "palmed" him one of their pins. "Just put that on your shooting vest" he told him.

We tried five stand for the first time, which was humbling for me, let alone my boy. When he had a FTF due to a light strike, and then tried to shoot again with an empty chamber he got a little flustered. Jent (Mitchell?) walked up behind CJ, told me to go back and shoot, and followed him around for the rest of the round. Despite really struggling to break targets CJ got only encouragement from everyone there.

On the way out a gentleman named Russ offered to "sponsor" CJ in the Bo Whoop shoot, but CJ decided he would pass. We had just finished shooting the flurry where the targets were easy enough that CJ was hitting them pretty regularly, and I think we both wanted to end on a high note.

There weren't many youth at the shoot today, and that is a shame as I cannot imagine any group of people treating the youngsters any better.
