A friend from Tacoma, Wa. was looking at a SxS left to her by her stepfather. It is a Richland Md. 707 12 ga. manufactured by Prandelli-Gasperini, Gardon VT, Italy. I rember Richland Arms was from Mich. and imported lot of Spanish SxS. Was not aware of any from Italy. What's the overall opinon of these? Thanks.

Not bad guns at all. They are actually quite good quality boxlocks, better than much of the Spanish guns of the era. Francis E. Sell was a big fan of the 3" 20 ga. and wrote extensively about it. He owned a Richland 707 3" 20.

I bought a Richland 707 3" 20ga new about 1967. It was indeed made in Italy & bore all proper Italian proof marks. I used it for several years & found it a quite good gun for its price range. I eventually gave it to my son as he became old enough to hunt with me, he still has it.

Supposedly not many of the Italian Richlands imported. I owned a couple in 20ga, over the years. Solid guns, a little on the heavy side.

Thanks for info, I'll relay it to her. All the other 707s I've seen were made in Spain. Larry today is opening of of Wis. Grouse season, are you stll setting in the land of tall corn?

I've also seen more than one made by Mario Beschi. Here's one.

Popplecop, I am indeed still in IA--although my wife is making frequent trips back and forth to Rhinelander, where she is now working. Heading for SD in a couple weeks to chase prairie grouse, then the UP in October.
