Saw a 10 gauge W.W Greener online, the lot description says 2 3/4 “ chambers. Pictures showing the proofs and chokes show 2 3/4. I have never heard of a 10g 2 3/4 .The gun looks great , but is it a brass shell gun? I thought the tens where 2 7/8? Experts please explain.

The Remington era Parker specification sheets call for a 2 3/4-inch chamber, in the 10-gauge, intended for 2 7/8-inch shells. Did the British follow the short chamber practices of some of our U.S. manufacturers?

It wasn’t just the lean years, W W Greener were building Anson and Deeley guns (under licence) before they developed the Facile Princeps to get round the royalty payments. They continued to build A&D side by side with the FP throughout their production history.

This A&D was a 30 Guinea non-ejector from 1878 and must have been one of their earliest A&D guns.

Thanks for the additional photos of the action. Your very nice gun is clearly built on an Empire action as it does not have the pronounced cocking dogs of the A&D.

If Remington were then loading 2 3/4” 10 bore it could well have been built for an American customer.

Sorry about that. Didn't mean to be an alarmist. I was just surfing pretty pictures and my eye locked onto that spot for some reason.
