I have a high wall barrel I'd like to have rebored to .405 WCF. I used Clearwater Reboring in the past, but they're no longer operating. Any recommendations for a shop that does first class work?

I have used Dan Pedersen in the past and been quite satisfied with his work.

JES Reboring gets good reviews. I plan to use him for a 9.3X62 on a Remington 760.

I've used JES on a couple 303 to 35cal rebore projects. Great work and fast turnaround.
I see he does .405 bore too.
I believe Michael used him on a 38-55 project on a Win M64 and was pleased.

Thanks for the information. It's encouraging to know that service is out there.

JES did a Marlin lever gun to .356 Winchester for me and another unremembered cartridge for my brother. We have been pleased with the work and I have a couple more that I want to send him.

Bill, The following from CutRifle's website, "Old Winchester barrels seem to have hard and soft spots the entire length of the barrel. They often will have small tears in the bottom of the groove." Just an FYI

Not to take this thread too much sideways. But has anyone found a source for .405 Winchester brass these days?
Once plentiful when Hornady was making it again, and their brass is great! But unfortunately that well dried up, and they no longer list it on their website either. I have a number of guns that I use .405 cases as donor brass. .40-70SS, .40-63 Ballard, etc., and sure hope some cartridge company reintroduces it again!

Vall,
Before Hornady reintroduced brass, many people modified 9.3x74R cases to 405. In my experience, Norma 9.3x74R cases are usually closer to the correct head diameter than RWS or DWM.

I have large amounts of 9.3x74R that I use for my .40-85 Ballard Everlasting. But the rims are a little smaller and sometimes they can slip past the extractor when chambering a cartridge, or slip past extracting. It's the only case long enough for my .40-85 Ballard, but hope I don't have to use them for my .40-63B or .40-70SS too.
