I believe there were several examples made using Lefever patents. I have not read that they were actually made by Lefever.

There are "Lefever side cockers" apparently made by Lindner with the Daly name.

I know that when Lefever was partnered with James Ellis (Lefever and Ellis) in Canandaigua, NY that they produced a side levers—very lovely guns with an obvious British heritage.

At least some side cocking Lefevers were marked Lefever Arms Company, after the Nichols partnership. Don't know if all were. Some Daly guns were made under Lefever patents, but others know better than I which ones they were.

I was under the impression that all the guns built while Lefever was partnered with Ellis were muzzle loaders. The only one I have actually seen was. It was an O/U combo gun with percussion side hammers. The marking on that one placed Ellis' name first, IE Ellis & Lefever. I was unaware of guns with internal hammers, thus the side cocker, being built prior to the Nichols & Lefever partnership beginning 1876. Lefever was partnered with Ellis from 1862-67. I believe he began building breech loading hammer guns while partnered with Dangerfield between 1871 & 1874 & continued them through his partnership with Barber.

I apologize--It was not a side cocker but a side lever for opening--what I was referring to was a hammer gun. Further, upon closer review of my notes, I am uncertain if Lefever was still in partnership with Ellis with respect to the other side lever hammer guns that I have seen. I think, frankly, that I wrote too quickly

Daly-Linder guns were made with markings indicating Lefever design features, as Mr. Buffum states. I don't think the statement of the original poster is correct. I don't think Lefever made Daly guns, even early on.

Yes and no.
The Daly Lefever sidecockers were made in Europe by Lindner and are stamped with the Lefever patent.
Much later Lefever made either I or DS grade guns for Daly which were labeled with the Daly group (3 initials beginning with S). The same is true with the Ohio version of DM Lefever crossbolts in one of the lower grades, the O Excelsior if my memory serves me right. Sorry I can't be more specific, my files are boxed up for my move to North Carolina and out of the Hawaii gun hell.
