I was offerred a used 92 for sale in 45-70.

I am intrigued but the information available on them is spotty with lots of doubts about ther durability, regulation, quality of materials etc... On the other hand some people seem to love them. Assuming this one is well regulated without the dremel treatment to the lands near the crown, are these worth the bother? $2,500 to $3,000 is cheap for a double rifle, but it is still a lot of money.

I've read about the quality controll issues out of the box, and I get it, but I'm interested in learning about ones that started out fine and either have been used hard and past muster or have started to fall apart. Anybody have any first hand knowledge about these?

If the gun is well regulated with the chosen ammo I beleive the gun to be a great value. We hear of the problem guns but not those of satisfied buyers.
New price is $2995 so current used should be <$2500.

It is incredibly cheap for a DR and you would be well advised to read the extensive discussions about this gun of a forum such as "accuratereloading"

Based on the intelligent comments about this gun if all I had was 3K I would not buy a DR.

But that is purely a personal opinion
