I just bought (at auction) a Beretta sxs, 20ga., DT, just over 27 1/2" barrels, beavertail foreend, pistol grip. Unfortunately, the model was not described.
It looks pretty much like the picture of the 16ga. Silver Hawk featherweight pictured below, except that there is no model name on the bottom of the receiver -- only "Beretta' and "Monoblock." There is a flying goose engraved on the bottom of the receiver.
I am unable to read the choke designations, though I can make out the word "CHOKE" on the barrel flats.

Am I correct in thinking that it is indeed a Silver Hawk featherweight or are there other possibilities? Also, what should I be looking for in order to determine the actual chokes?
(I don't have my digital camera (long story).
Thanks.

It might help if you determined the year the gun was proofed. A goose and monoblock sxs is pretty slim to go on.

Directly from Beretta, the Italian date codes:

I recently saw a Beretta sxs that had the actual date, 1929 stamped on the watertable. Go figure.

It does not look like the 424 picture you posted. It is as engraved as the Silver Hawk featherweight pictured on the URL I posted above, but the back edge of the receiver is straight and the receiver, which has 1 pin and 3 screws, is a suprisingly bright silver color.
According to my Blue Book, the 424 had a straight stock; this has a pistol grip.

Evidently it was made in 1957 as there is an "XIII" stamped on the barrel flat.

I was offered a Beretta sxs 3" 12 guage made in the 1950's for $700.00. It was very similar to this gun. When you hold it in your hand you will see the quality is low.

It also looks like this Beretta 409 except that the crossbolt is round, not square and there are engraving differences:

GWP,

Nice looking double. Does it come with an articulated trigger. My 424 has it - by the way, I took the 424 photo off of GunsAmerica. Steve Barnett has it listed.

My is in a more used condition = project gun. Enjoy the 20ga. Perhaps my next purchase. My Nitro Special in 20ga is quite austere in finish but works well...
