I would like to congratulate Bill Soverns on becoming a member of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild this last week in Reno. Many of you have seen pictures of Bill's work posted here on the bbs and recognize the quality of his work so it should come as no suprise the Bill was accepted as a member.

Bill and I spent quite a bit of time time talking about projects and had a great time. Its nice to know that the future of custom gunmaking is in such good hands.

I should also mention that his friend Jim Anderson also became a Guild member at the time. Both guys are on their way back home to South Dakota and I wish them a safe trip.

Again, congratulations Bill!

I too wish to add my congratulations to Messrs. Soverns and Anderson. The work they presented shows them well worthy of the honor.

Congratulations to all! What an honor and an accomplishment
to be proud of.

I'd like to give it a go someday. The board will probably
send me packing, though!!

Best,

Dan

Bill has put a huge personal bet on the line in order to be a full-time professional gunsmith and stockmaker. His work is damned good! I'm happy to hear he's getting deserved recognition, acceptance into the ACGG, but most of all I hope his order book is full - it aught to be.

Congrats to Bill and Jim!

Please allow me to also offer my congrats. If Mr. Doug & Glenn hold them in high regards, they must be tops. Would love to see some of their work here. Any chances of pictures ? Ken

I'm not around here all that much, so haven't seen pictures of Bill's work. The examples he had at the show, though, were great, as were Jim's. What's also encouraging is that neither of these guys have gray hair yet. This is really just what we need in the gunmaking trade--younger craftsmen to perpetuate it.

Bill and Jim are very capable craftsmen. While in the room looking at the applicants...I heard many a member voice the opinion this group was the best seen in many years. I agree with Craig...no gray hair yet...Jim does have a white patch though the size of a quarter.. HA HA.

Thank you everyone. Applying to the guild was an exhaustive process but in the end it was well worth it. I dont think I slept much the two weeks before the show and the 2 hours while the members were voting seemed like a year.

It was good to meet all of you in person and your input and comments on my work was appreciated. I had the honor of meeting Mr. Trevillion and spent a little time chewing the fat. He is quite a character and I enjoyed our conversation.

The director of Purdey stopped by my table and looked over my work. This quite frankly, scared the crap out of me. We talked at some length and there is a real possibility that I will be doing work for them.

It was a great time and I will see all of you next year. Oh, and Jim may have a white patch but my hair is getting pretty thin these days.
