Please tell me what your favorite 2 1/2" shells are, the price you pay per case and where you get them. No, I'm not interested in reloading at this time in my life.

I've used RST, Kent Gamebore, and Polywads for my short chambered 16's. I actually like them all! I use the RST's for pheasant hunting most, for the simple fact that I can get #5 shot in the RST shell, which I can't in the others.

I just ran out of #7.5 Polywads that I was using for trap in my short chambered Win 12 16 ga, which would dust the clays if I did my part.

Not much help here, but no complaints with any of the above mentioned. There is an outfit in town where I buy the RST's. $10.50 a box. I saw some Gamebore's at Cabela's for around the same price. The polywad vintners, were $85.00 a case last time I purchased some.

I have used nothing but RST's for several years and am very happy with them. You can check them out at:

RST paper hull - $12
Gamebore "Pure Gold" paper - $11
B&P "High Pheasant" plastic - not sure on price, but similar to above.
Polywad - $8.50

For grouse I like the paper hulled shells, not so much for performance as nostalgia - I like the smell of the fired paper hulls. The B&P I have are just pheasant loads. Someone gave me the Polywads and they seem too light for game.

All should work in old guns, at least I have not had any problems.

Good Luck

I use 12 ga B&P High Pheasant #5's and 16 ga Westley Richards #5's on Oklahoma and Kansas pheasants with spectacular results. 30+ roosters this season. The B&P 12 ga I got from bandpusa.com for $75.07 delivered to my door in Oklahoma. The Westley Richards 16 ga came from WestleyRichards.com and were $99 but I don't remember if that included shipping.

Mark, I have been shootiing both the RST and B&P High Pheasant, in fact the B&P may be some you left here. I much prefer the RST #5 for field work. AND my seat of the pants analysis says that the High Pheasant are much hotter than the RST's. I quit shooting them in my light guns....

I have only tried a couple: Gamebore and RST.
I much prefer the RST. I buy them at L.L. Bean
in Freeport, Me. over the counter.

I like the Nobel Sport "English" game loads, 2 1/2", 1 oz. loads in #6 shot. Last time I bought them I paid $55 a case.

I have not found a ready source here in Michigan for the Nobel Sport short loads. They are a bit stiffer than the RST and Polywad.
