I had couple .308 lever guns in the past (Model 88 and Sako Finnwolf). I just looked at newly re-produced Model 1895 in cal. .30-06. Are these nice enough to get one. I know Browning made a run on nice ones in recent past. Which one should I get?

I looked!
...but didn't want the recoil of an 06.
A nice looking rifle right out of the ol' west - buck-a-roo!
I bought a high grade new model 1892 in 45 Colt
Now where's our chaps snake-eyes?

I sighted in my .375 using 300gr Remi Swift-A-Frames from large leather bean bag. Maaan, I want some recoil relief of 8lb '06.
I bought that .375 after reading munerous posts about it's puny recoil on Accuratereloading Big Bore BBS. It seems to kick a lot harder then my old .300Mag. Thank Marxie I didn't throw away cool $900 buying that boxed No.1 Ruger cal. .404WJJ. The rarity factor almost got me, again.
I would ask Ole' Cowboy about that cal. Colt.

I know you don't really care what I think, but the Winchester Model 1895 and the Browning Model 1895 is the same gun. Depends on the name you want on the gun. I would pick the Winchester.
They are very nice, solid guns.
I have one of the early ones that has the Winchester name chambered for .270 WIN.
These did not sell well and I understand that most, that were not sold, were sent back and rebarreled to .405 WIN.
The Winchester stocks are satin finished and the Browning shiny finished.

They also had one in cal. '06 that looked like that old 'Musket' with barrel band and extened wood. It looked precious.

Yes, that is the very nice Carbine Model 1895 with wooden hand guard. That is one I really would like to have.
I have seen them at Cabela's in Ft.Worth.
