If you just bought it - way to go ! Someone took really good care of it. They must have wiped all the finger prints off it when putting it away.

beautiful! Quite a find, for sure. I can't imagine there is another one like it anywhere.

A neat find, but a little sad that it has not had a life outside of being looked at.
More sad if someone keeps it mint and does not use it.
Good if some hunter has the opportunity to now use it and give it purpose.

50 years or so on a basement shelf in Northeast Minneapolis: 1964 V19 Darne in 28 gauge. It was unfired when I got it. Lives in my gun safe, now. The original organic horsey hoove plastic buttplate was shrunk (they all are) and Geoffrey Gournet fitted a new checkered ebony buttplate, which was a factory option. It got a bretelle Darne sling at the same time, another factory available option. Has been fired, but, not much. Best, Ted

People do buy guns and don't ever use them.
I have a Model 21 that was 'as new' near 60 years after it was made.
It's good when stuff is saved just for me.
A Colt 1911A1 from 1944 resides here. Apparently, it was sold through the NRA way back when for a few bucks. It's about the only gun I don't shoot regularly, although I have shot it. It's not about resale either, and it's a break from my usual pattern. It's just that 99% examples of that historic pistol are not encountered every day.
I should sell it. But I never will.

I have owned a number of post world war 2 Webleys that have either been unfired or nearly so. Can’t really explain why other than perhaps upland hunting was already on the way out by then. And who wanted a double when all that firepower was available in an automatic.

I had a Webley built Super Magnum Paradox gun built for Maharajah of Kota that looked to have never been fired before I bought it. Fixed that promptly:

This one came to me, brand new in the box, too: It is a Prandelli & Gasperini, manufactured for Richland Arms. The former owner bought it in 1967, and it was delivered to his door (!) He never got around to using it, and when I asked him why he bought it, he told me, “I wanted a 20 gauge”. He did not shoot or hunt. I guess he just wanted a 20 gauge. He did tell me he wanted me to have it, at Thanksgiving a few years ago. It was his last Thanksgiving, unfortunately. He had been coming to my house for years. It is a 3” 20 gauge, kinda porky, I have 12s and 16s that weigh less. Choked MOD and IMP MOD, I’m not really sure what to do with it. Those white line spacers are really sporty, no? There is some very nicely cut scroll engraving, and the checkering is really well done. Brand new case colors. Brand new everything. I have shot some trap with it. Had fun, didn’t light the field on fire, however. Best, Ted

I'd be interested to see a few photos of that ebony buttplate. Brent

I own a never fired 20 gauge Superposed round knob long tang made in 1966 and never fired. Not a salt wood gun. Gifted to a young lady 54 years ago and was kept well stored in the original case until finally sold. I cant bring myself to shoot it. It amazes me that these unfired guns still show up from time to time. I am posting in for sale here with pictures. See for sale forum.

My two well used Webley & Scott 700's. The lower one with the straight hand stock is one of the first to be built after WW2 for the Brit market because it has 2 1/2 inch chambers rather than the 2 3/4 inch 700's we see today. I purchased it new from a local shop when I initially tried it the gun fitted perfectly the balance and every thing about the gun was right. Sadly age and weight gain the guns fit is now not as good these days. The upper gun is a two barrel set and was the subject of my posting "converting a leather case to accommodate the gun", these two guns have been the work horses of my life and without exaggeration been a gun for every occasion. Considering their heavy use they have worked faultless for the half centaury and quite likely to do the other half without a problem as well.
The only lessons in my life I truly did learn from where the ones I paid for!
