Hemingway's Springfield was made-to-order by G&H in 1932- believe he took possession of it aprox. Sept. that year- while residing in Key West-- Oh, for those days when G&H or A&F would ship a gun to a customer directly--no 4473 or FFL business req'd.

He first used it in Africa while on safari with PH Phillip Percival--quite effectively it would seem. His wealthy wife Pauline Pfeiffer Hemingway shot a .256 Mannlicher BA rifle.
