Just think of it as Merkel with different name struck on the gun. 'Special-Gewehr Lauf-Stahl', gut stuff with plenty of lovely hand engraving on older graded models. It's wise to seek out: Fortuna, Buhag, Wolf, Simson, Hubertus in US. Most Americans are clueless about them, so prices tend to be lower then on the Merkels. Matter of fact, few years ago I went to local show and guy had one PROFESSIONALY restocked with original stock included in like new shape for $1200. It was equivalent in every respect to Merkel 47 ejector.
Like older BC Mirokus they're somewhat prone to rust so be sure to wipe them down on regular basis.

I have a Fortuna with the J P Sauer name on it. Wood is not great but the workmanship is very good particularly the metal work. Mine has small bores and tight chokes which are common on these guns. Sling swivels and light weight. Good for pot luck hunting and waterfowl. Mine is a keeper and I bought it for a nice price( $800.) in good condition.
