I shoot a couple of combo guns for most of my predator hunting, a Bernardelli 2000 5.6x50mm Mag/12ga with Leupold VX-II 1x4x20mm and a Marrochi/American Arms 222 Rem/12ga Leupold VX-1 Shotgun scope.
I started with a Savage 24 223/20ga and it's ergonomics leaves a lot to be desired. I need to use a scope and if you can mount it low enough to get a good cheek weld it is too low to cock the hammer or use the selector switch. A good cheek weld has your eye perfectly aligned with the scope as soon as it hits your shoulder making moving shots and shots at those coyotes that pop out of the sage at 20 feet a lot easier.
The two I'm using now have standard safeties so the scope can be mounted low and double triggers for instant rifle or shotgun selection.
Bernardelli getting the job done at the Mexican border.
Again just south of the Canadian border.
