This past Spring, I purchased a 12 ga. Model 21 at the Southern SxS from CSMC. It is a unique gun that I fully believe was totally redone and restocked by CSMC, but they didn't have the gun tagged that way. A 30" gun choked lm/im with the deluxe, big checkering pattern and the slimmest, trimmest, low profile forend I have ever encountered on any 12 ga. sxs, much less a 21. Capped pg and a checkered butt with very dark, reddish brown, high grade American walnut, the gun just fits me like a glove. I just love the gun and its dynamics.
Now, the rest of the story. The day I pulled it off the rack and worked out a deal with Lou, I asked him if I could take it over to the have-a-go stand and test fire it a few times. He said sure, but before he handed it to me, he snapped both barrels 5 or 6 imes as if he wanted to be sure it was working properly. I thought that a little odd, but took the gun over and fired off a couple of boxes of shells with no problems. I let him take it back with him to have the auto-safety disconnected and have it put in a nice leather case.
Yesterday, I took it out for the first time to try it at a few doves. The gun began to fire the wrong barrel, ejecting poorly, and finally started ejecting both the empty and the unfired shell together. Very frustrating.
My question after having said all that: would you send it back to CSMC and hope they can fix it (free of charge), or is there someone else better that I can just pay to have it fixed right instead.
Like I said, I love the gun and shot it really well, so I want it fixed and fixed right, for good.
Your responses appreciated.
