I agree. Don't make these everyday type repair things into a Trip to Mars landing craft project.
It's a stripped thread.

Tap out and make a new screw.
I guess they call it 'building' a new screw now though.
Even the most elaborate engraving won't take more than 15 or 20 minutes,,if that.
Make a tie-tack out of the old one.
