I have a pretty good idea regarding Model 21 restorations done in New Haven "back when". Please correct me if I'm wrong but a documented factory restoration seems to get the nod.

What's the conventional wisdom when the new Model 21 factory, CSMC, does a restoration on a Model 21?
Is the work in the same league as the New Haven plant?
Does value take a hit?

Thank you

I don't have current info, but my personal experience about 10 years ago was that Winchester Custom Shop work done by Galazan's was documented in the Winchester/Cody records. Have no idea what this means in the sales market.

Bob; 21's other than the new reproductions by Galazan have been out of production for a long time. As a result, many original 21's have undergone some sort of restoration. I have found that almost any restoration that is done properly, or as Winchester would have done, pretty much gets the 'nod'. Still, I don't think any restoration, no matter how well done, is as valuable as a pristine, original piece......at least for me, and if one can tell. Also, I really hope this thread does not turn in to a dissertation regarding Galazan. I for one don't want to have to stomach that.
