According to the Wisconsin Bureau of Statistics, in 1911 Huels was located in Madison, on Caroll Street. He had 2 employees. 1870-1880, he worked for August Herfurth. He died in 1908-09. His son, F.W. Huels carried on the business until 1914.

In the 1880 census he was born in Germany around 1846. His son was born in 1881 and died in 1964, he had an older sister Amy, born 1878. At one point, his son worked at the University of Wisconsin as an instructor in Experimental Eng.
