I just aquired a Huskvarna 12 ga model 20B Lefaucheux action made in 1951 ser. 222xxx. While checking the chamber length, I find it is 2 1/2". This site says 2 1/2" was stopped in 1937 with serial number 167000. Anyone have an idea why a 1951 gun would have 2 1/2" chambers?

All Husqavarna Hammerguns left the factory with 65mm(2 1/2in) chambers.

In the book "Gamla Svenska Jaktvapen" from Jan Tuveson it says that all hammerguns (except for the model 103) are with 65 mm chambers. The 1937 refers to the hammerless shotguns. Until 1937 they were delivered with 65 mm chamber. Which corresponds with a serial number 165900.
The model 103 could be ordered with 70 mm chambers, special order. The number "70" is stamped between the chambers, above the extractor.

Interesting. Our Canadian company, Tradeex, has dozens of Husqvarna hammer 12 ga shotguns, underlever forend on their website some are listed as 2 1/2" chambers and some at 2 3/4" chambers.
Google the site up and check it out if you do not believe me

Thanks. Seeing as how it was made in 51, with the Sweedish Special steel; the mid-grade steel for Huskvarna guns, would it handle 2 3/4" 1 oz loads OK, such as WAA Extra Lites?

The same grade steel was used in the 310s series; very good guns made up until 1970 I believe.

Many Huskys hammerguns have had their chambers let out.

2holer;

I hate to be a knitpicker, but it is spelled Husqvarna, not Huskvarna.

Hell your not being a knitpicker at all, after all you let the Sweedish Special steel past grin.
