Hi guys, I was priveleged to shoot on Cornbury estate last Friday (I and a few friends are the only people shooting there other than family). This cheaky bird walked straight up to me. My easiest shot this season!. Just kidding, a bit of fun... Regards, T ![](http://www.vintageshotgun.com/images/hewillstopinaminute.jpg)

Being a new "Ithaca-ist" and having the 1915 Lynn Bogue Hunt print circa 1915 of a Big Red Fox (not Redd Foxx- he wouldn't know a Rooster pheasant from a craphouse rat) chasing a nice red Rooster on the snow- So instead of blasting this Rooster into smithereens, well anyway=- great foto. What are the two red flags on the tops of the gunner's "Wellies" for- nice touch I am sure for when one gets an invite to gun on Lord Muckingfutch's Estate--pip pip and cheerios!!

My shooting student Joe Wood didn't know a bird could be shot in the air until he started hunting with me.
Best,
Mike
I am glad to be here.

Ha ha ha Darwinian selection. The "run at the gun" gene proved unhelpful to say the least......

I can see several options to that picture.
Option 1 Bird charges hunter. Good thing you are there to take him down with your double rifle.
Option 2 Stop or I will shoot....... again.
Option 3 Do not shoot until you see the whites of their eyes does not work well on birds.
Option 4 You bet the wife a pound that you have the high bird count you have to get them anyway you can.
Option 5 Wife shoots them out of the air. I shoot them on the ground. How many birds do you see charging like this. See. She gets more chances because she shoots all of those flying birds.

So what is..... the rest of the story? Did it stop, charge, run off or turn, presenting a good broadside shot?

Foxy - Your "fine double shooting pip pip maestro" cover has been blown sky high! Those red "flags" are called FLASHES, and they're worn at the top of your stocking, which is cuffed over, just where your breeks end.
Get on home, lil' doggie, back to the swamps!

If he comes a bit closer, it would be a shotgun and a meat mincer two in one ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif)

I don't know what those flashes are for but if he wore them where I hunt it would take several hours afterward to clean the burrs out of them.
