No. It was done here in the States. Why do you ask?

What beauty. Very nice "sympathetic restoration". Just curious, is proper pronounciation "lan-caster" or "lan-chester"?

Taking a guess here, hopefully someone will come along and correct me if I'm wrong....I believe the "EC 42 grs" stamp on the barrels was telling the owner that the gun was Nitro proofed with 42 grs of "E.C." nitro powder. From what I understand, a somewhat early nitro shotgun powder.

I believe you are correct on that EC stamp. EC was, as said, an early smokeless powder was was one of the bulk powders. A 3-dram black powder "Measure" of it was to weigh 42-grains, so it along with Schultz was referred to as a 42-grain bulk powder. A later powder by EC I believe, but not sure the exact designation of it was developed which only weighed 36-grains for a 3-dram measure.

Another interesting feature about these body action Lancasters..they have intercepting sears. Not mounted like you would normally see them in a A&D boxlock, but a completely different set up. Indeed, the insides of these guns are something else.

Would any of you have any clues as to who the Lancaster house engraver was??
