If the guns aren't perfectly matched for dimensions, chokes, era, weight, and engraving, I'd divorce the composed pair and treat them to what makes sense individually. I took the action to the best laser welder in the business...well I reckon he is...we agreed the corrosion areas and 4hrs later I returned and picked up the action. I'm really pleased with the results...a LOT of very fine filing for me but I love doing it...going to take me days...this is why laser welding is the way to do it...see how fine it is... With the control that this excellent welder has (for example the gold "SAFE" inlay, I suspect the weld heat affected zone will allow the engraver to re-engrave without further anealing. I'm curious to know if the CCH will reveal the welds due to different metal composition in the "new steel" that was added. Perhaps err on the side of caution and don't CCH?
