Hi all, as long as we are talking these guns, which would you rather have an orginal or repo Parker?
All the best!

If you are buying the gun for me I would rather have an original Parker AHE 28 gauge with 28" barrels and double triggers on a OO frame weighing about 5-1/2 lbs.
If I am paying for it same gun only in the reproduction DHE grade.
Best,
Mike
I am glad to be here.

I like and have both original Parkers & repro's.
The original's have that hand fitted old school charm to them that makes each one unique, which the repro's don't have.
But the repro's on the other hand have modern metals & newer wood that should make them able to with stand modern current ammunition better.
Buy at least one of each and have the best of both worlds!

Greg, one problem with the originals is finding them with decent modern dimensions. They're out there, but you have to look some. I own a very shootable VH 20ga, made nearly 100 years ago. The other issue, compared to Repros, is referred to above: An original DHE in 28ga is well out of the price range of most people; an original DHE 20 or 16, somewhat less so but still very expensive. Repros, if you have $5K--give or take, depending on gauge, condition, and configuration--you've got yourself a gun. And it's a gun with good, modern dimensions.

If you're a dyed-in-the-wool, honest-to-goodness collector and member in good standing in the PGCA the politically correct answer is none other than the real McCoy--the original Parker Bros. gun. However, if you live in a van down by the river, the practically correct answer is a Parker Reproduction--and they too; are becoming more and more collectible as the years go by.

I don't care who you are "That's Funny" In reality a good portion of the guy's over on the Parker site own and shoot repro's as well as original's. In fact they have a page on their forum devoted to reproductions. That must be the guy's in the van down by the river that post on that page.
