Is this the one you posted about a couple days ago? Made by Simson, Jaeger patent. Scherell in Berlin must have been the retailer and marked his name on it, common practice. Don't see so many of this design.

No toil and trouble dubbletrubble. You've done all the work. Just drag the cursor across the pic on photobucket and copy the data string in the image block. Could you give us a pic of the area ahead of the flats and which number is the serial? GMCS is correct and Franz Jaeger can also be found in GGCA publications No. 26, page 16; No. 28, page 14, No. 36 at page 8 & No. 39, page 22. Franz Jaeger was born in 1876 and had 8 siblings, one sister who became the wife of Gustav Kersten. The technology as seen on this example, the Simson-Jaeger Verschluss, was patented in 1904 in Germany with #176578 & #822668(????) in the U.S. of A.; therefore, it was made between 1904 & 1912 as I don't see any Nitro stamps. The left tube has less than 0.2mm constriction and the right tube is choked. It looks like it may have his hinge pin 1905 applied for patented design, http://www.google.com/patents?id=s2VZAAA...;q=&f=false . Kind Regards, Raimey rse

I was reading this and can add that I was just given and old hammer drilling by Franz Jaeger with the same configurations as the gun pictured,...it's in rough shape but quite an interesting gun, also has the name Herold on it

The taste of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten.........

CJ:
Post a pic of the flats and the area ahead of the flats if possible.
The stamp "EINGTR. SCHUTZMAKRE" is for EINGETRAGENE SCHUTZMARKE or registrated trademark, I think. Circa WWI, the Franz Jaeger employed about 50 craftsmen so they could have easily have made any of the examples. I'm curious with that number if they alos dabbled in making tubes.
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse
