I came across a French made O&U this weekend that looks like it was made somewhat like the Valmet O&U or the Remington M32. It is a 16 ga, extractors, barrels joined at the muzzell like the 32 with the sliding breech cover. Only on this one there is a knurled button on the right side of the breech that after closing the barrels you push down on it and the lever activates closing the breech cover and locking the action. Has perfunctory engraving with a silver colored receiver, also sling attachments on barrel and butt.I cannot find a makers name, it is stamped with St Etinenne Proof and 65mm chambers. Any idea what this is and would like any info on taking it apart.

Might be a Bretton. Pix would certainly help. Regards

Doesnt sound familiar, but if it resembles a M32 or Valmet, then your probably talking Damon Petrik.

Never seen a Petrik that requires a separate action to close the locking mechanism, or without a maker's name.

Petrik's name was Boniface Petrik. He held many patents in several countries. Eventually all guns of this style were known as Petrik System guns.

Your gun seems to be yet another variation on the same theme....very unique. If there are any other markings, it would be interesting to see them.
