From the pic you have Birmingham post 1887 with the rhombus with a "12" over "C" and upto 1896. Probably closer to 1887 with the large strikers. The fuzzy pic of the mark of the "Crown" over "BP" is the preliminary black powder proof. Neat how the pattern is in the flats.
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse

Thanks for the info. I have not been able to find any info about it at all with regard to the maker.$50.00. I almost broke a finger getting my money out so fast.

Some where there is a catalog with Saxton shotguns.... no one has found it yet. These guns appear with Birmingham proofs and Belgian proofs. So there were apparently 2 companies sourcing them. The question is for who? Another Saxton: http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbt...=true#Post89464Joe Salter had one last year with Belgian proofs. Pete

Wow, this is the exact same gun as Joe's. It does look better now that it is cleaned up. I will post the new pics in the next couple of days.

I was digging around and came up with this obit. I believe this is our Saxton Shotgun seller. While the guns seen are older than this, I can not but help think this is the genesis, a hardware store in New York with Birmingham ties. I will try and dig around some more and see what else I can surface. If anyone has a Field hardware store catalog, please look to see if they were marketing Saxton shotguns. Pete

Good stuff Pete, thanks. I had it at a show a few weeks ago and it got a lot of interest.
