RWTF --- the key word here is "at". I didn't work in the custom shop even tho I did visit the factory on occasions. I engraved some of the higher order items as well as doing short runs of production orders ( done by my apprentist). Bruno Pardee was head of the custom shop when I was working with them.

Thanks Ken-I have mucho books and articles on the Winchesters I love-and John Madis was also an engraver there. Did many of the fine double gun companies have In House engravers during the so-called 'Golden Age' 1890-1930, or did they outsource that work? RWTF

RWTF -- Lefever, LC Smith, Parker, Win, and Fox all had in- house engravers for their production work and higher graded guns. They also were known tro hire better out side engravers on occasions for special commissions. Kornbrath was known to do some work for Win -- Loy was another engraver who was hired by different factories among others.
