What is the latest information on the matting machine that andy had used? Is it being set up or being used?
More important is there ever going to be service again using this machine to mat or redo a customers barrel.
I know Andy caused some angst for the people using this board and others but it is a service needed. I seem to remember some mentioning that the machine was bought by another gunsmith hence the inquiry.

If I remember correctly, when Winchester closed down, John, there were actually two matting machines left. One went to Andy and I believe the other went to Galazan's. You might want to check this out. Good luck.

I heard that Simmons Guns was trying to buy a Win. matting machine but I don't know what happened. Recently, the following was posted in another forum:

"We have been trying to buy one of the matting machine's, there are 3 that we have found and are working on buying one of them.
We still have a supply of winchester solid ribs for m-12's and m-42's but would like to make our own.
That said, we are also looking into comming into the 20 century are using a lazer engraver to do the matting.
It looks great in the samples we have done and i am hopefull that we will have simmons/winchester solid ribs at some point soon.
I am also working on the return of the simmons classic rib patteren, the herringbone style we did for many years.
These will be a by order job, no mass produced product, needless to say but it is hurting my brain with all the math i have been doing so i am going to have a Guiness extra stout at this time."
