I have determined that life would be simpler if I didn't carry a range bag (Ok, more like an army surplus knapsack) around the sporting clays course, which I am constantly picking up and putting down and which tends to gather useless other junk. Generally, I am not a cart guy and I am getting sick of carrying lots of stuff around.
Accordingly, I have decided to try a 100 shell capacity "speed bag" style cartridge bag for sporting clays. I expect to keep the speed bag across my shoulder at all times, which means less fuss and a free hand.
So, I am looking for a reasonably priced, good quality, 100 shell capacity speed bag. Any suggestions on brands or where to buy?
Griffin & Howe and Anglo America sell what appear to be nice ones, although they cost slightly more than I was hoping to spend. Let me know if anyone has experience with the ones from those two places.
Also, what do you think generally of my plan? 100 shells across my shoulder may be a bit heavy, but I think it will lighten up relatively quickly. Next, I will have to think of a way to deal with the controller and clipboard.

Newlyn1,
I'm a fan of carrying my 110 shells, a small Gatorade and nothing else. But I use a 3 pocket bird-bag or so-called, half-vest so the weight is suspended from my hips, not my shoulders....less fatiguing (I started out loading 110 shells in the pockets of a full-length vest)and less hindrance to my shooting. They can be had for as little as $30. I walk a little funny for the first 1/4 of the course, but it gets better as I go!
I suspect you won't like shooting with 10 lbs hanging from one shoulder and will gravitate towards removing it putting it back on after shooting. So, you won't be any further ahead than with a range bag and it may turn out to be an even greater nuisance.

I've done the same thing for years. Go to J.W.Hulme Co. and get one of their large leather shell bags. I can put 175 12ga. shells into it, or a few less and a set of chokes. Comfortable to carry and even with a full load of shells feels lighter than a regular Sporting Bag. http://www.jwhulmeco.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=HUNTING_SHELL_BAGS

British Sporting Arms and E-Bay are another source for Speed Bags. I happen to favor one of the pull/push carts that are currently available. Enough room for so that someone can join you, have some cool drinks available and stack a couple of guns and the rest of the "junque" that we tend to schlep around the course.

They look like purses, a Euro look. A 3 pocket Filson apron is my choice. Everything at your waist, no inhibition to shooting and no sling across the shoulder. The waxed cotton tin cloth is durable, doubles as a field rig in season.

If you don't have kids of your own, pick up a neighborhood kid and introduce them to the world of shooting while they carry your stuff. Better ask Mom and Dad first though...Geo

We have some people who use Nylon "saddlebags" on their dogs who LOVE being able to carry stuff around the course.

Speed bag works for me. Mine is from Lewis Drake and has a nice wide shoulder strap so the load is well distributed. Lewis has great bags but they are now about twice the price I paid. You might be able to find them on sale sometimes....doesn't hurt to ask.

Let's see, choices are apron or purse. (Hans don't come kick my azz, just kidding around) I say keep the olive drab look and the hunnert bucks, go for a milsurp gas mask bag....even Indiana Jones used one. <$10
