This is very nice engraving; where is the signature?
The maker is likely Steyr of course, but you surely mean the gunsmith who reworked it. In order to identify him, you should pleasure us with all the markings please, not only a selection. Even then there are no guaranties of course. If I can see correctly on the macro snapshot, the little carbine was (re)proofed in Ferlach in 1949.

Jani,The name Obiltschnig is to the right of the stag's forleg toward the edge of the floorplate if you magnify.Maybe the maker's mark is beneath the stock?Eddie

I have only seen engraving framed with the diagonal lines done in Ferlach. Wasn't Obiltshnig operating there? First time I have seen that type of cheekpiece on a MS as well. Possibly the stocking was done in Ferlach although the rest of the woodwork surely seems to be MS. Except for the buttplate... Steve
