i am looking for a bag to tote shells, knives, leather products, etc when going hunting and shooting. something nice that i could keep loaded and ready to go in my hunting room, where i could just grab it and hit the door.
if you have it, do you like it? is it a high quality item and worth the price?
thanks!

Not Galazan, but a little something a friend once brought me from the "Continent" Too small for waterfowling, but perfect for a walk through the tag alders.

Marc, I have a McAlister speed bag, but almost never use it. Here is the finest line of custom made leather shoulder bags I've seen. http://www.accu-riser.com/dove-speed-bag/ I have visited with him several times and the bags are unbeatable in quality, but the thing I like about them is the suppleness of the leather. Most speed bags are stiff and hard. These are not. He will even build you a custom bag to your specs. Heckuva nice guy. SRH

i appreciate your responses and links. i have actully had a speed bag that i still use and i bought it around '96. i got it from Trader Keith's and it was the only place to get one that i could find in those pre-internet days. murdered many a crow pulling shells from that bag.
but the range bag is large and rectangular and used for carrying flats of shells and general "stuff" you need when shooting at the range. like glasses, muffs, cleaning stuff, etc.

We've got our Little Buddy friend up here in Northcentral Wisconsin we call Larry, that owns the large size. It seems well made. He's very proud and in love with his--struts around with it like he's a banty rooster.

No, i do not have a galazan. I own three different leather shell bags, all beautiful and functional. In the whole time i have owned them i have almost never used them other than for sporting clays and a couple of tower shots. I prefer a vest when hunting upland, and a shooting box for ducks and dove.
I think they are beautiful and i am sure i will use the one i inherited from my dad one day. But i think they really are a hunting want not need. And a nice accessory for clays.
My favourite bag has been my bag from Orvis. It is my favourite because the top hinge on the top of the bag makes it easy to carry it open.

You ought'a make sure whatever you get has the buckle covers on the strap, to protect your gun. Not all of them do.

My mistake. Probably more useful than a speed bag, too.
