Gentlemen; It appears We will be taking a grandson to Interlochen for a week of music next June about this time of year: As this old guy loves to shoot, are there any places within a hundred miles or so where I can shoot? A Vintager shoot would be wonderful, but just somewhere I can shoot trap, skeet, or sporting clays will work too. Sam Ogle, Lincoln, NE

Sam, if you can plan your trip to coincide with your passing through Wisconsin Father's Day weekend 2015 you ought consider attending one of the better S X S events held in the country, that being The Great Northern Side-by-Side Classic held at the MRC Sportsman's Club June 19, 20 & 21, 2015. The club is located in Northcentral Wisconsin 8 miles North of Medford, WI on US Hwy 13. http://www.mrcsportsmansclub.com/GreatNorthern/GNindex.htm

Sam,
We live in Traverse City which is close to Interlochen. Feel free to give me a shout when you are here or close to the time (timberflint AT yahoo.com).
Cedar Rod and Gun has a SxS shoot every summer. Toward the end of July this year. Also there is a SxS Shoot at Action Shooting near Manton. Not sure the date but think it is toward the end of June. Also Charlevoix is a fine club with shoots on Wed, Sat, and Sun. Numerous SxS shooters there also.
Worth a stop at Fieldsport while you are in town also.

Thanks so much, guys: I tried to PM you guys, but the computer keeps saying "You are not logged in," so when I log in, it doesn't work. Anyway, Thanks again: Skeettx; WOW those are shooting places? there are a lot more than Nebraska. Tim Wolf; I promise I will contact you about the week before I plan to make the trip. Thanks Wild Skies; Thanks Rich.

You get very far west of Sioux City, there aren't that many people in northern Nebraska.

I live about 10 minutes from Interlochen. Tim Wolf gave you good info. For Sporting Clays, Action Shooting Sports (100 bird course) and Cedar Rod and Gun Club (50 bird course) are both within 45 minutes. Charlevoix Gun Club is about an hour. All are good courses with welcoming folks and the drives are scenic. Between those 3, you can shoot Monday evening, Wend., Thur., Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Fieldsport should not be missed for some serious gun fondling. Feel free to call me, as well as Tim, for directions or any other information. Dan Ross (231) 421-1903. And good on your grandkid for being talented enough to get into an Interlochen program!
