I have an unfinished Kerner drilling. 16 over 7x57. I know it has a build date of 5/42vand all the serial numbers match. It came to the U.S. in 1947 and is plain. No etching or front site and I can't find a value. Any help would be appreciated.

What's the v after the proof-date of May 1942? Is a Kerner-Anson or just plain Kerner on the top rib? Can you post some images?

A Josef Zeller of Dortmund retailed Kerner-Anson side plated drilling owned by Bill of Gainesville, Florida.

Interesting that the pins protrude thru the bulky part of the frame.

And if you have ever wondered about how many components are in the action of a K-A drilling, here's your chance to sum them up.

Note script L near forend lug.

That has to be one of the most elegant drillings I have ever seen. What calibers?

The scope, with a main tube of 22mm, is the perfect size, and compliments the shape of the weapon rather than detracting from it.

Countryboy,
Which "Kerner"is it? There was Emil Kerner and Sons;his son Ernst Kerner(a Meffert son-in-law that sometimes used Meffert parts); and Emil's grandson Helmut(Ernst's son)who was an apprentice in 1938 and may have been working by 42. Helmut was a friend and I would be very interested to find out if it was his or his fathers.

Dr. Ben:
Bill is down there by you somewhere and I'll bet if you'll take any of your acquisitions by his house, he'll surely show you how to take them apart.

Raimey,
There is no problem with taking any of them apart, the trick is putting them back together.
