This project is winding down with checkering and rust bluing yet to be completed. About 6 months back, a few asked to see pictures of additional work. I decided to raise the sighting plane a bit by using bases for the sights. A couple of earlier guns had the sights mounted on the barrel and the sighting notch in the action was a distraction of sorts there. The front sight was in a box of old sights so I decided to use it. The trigger guard came from a friend in England, it was made for a 20ga. Greener shotgun. The rolled edge is perhaps a bit odd for a rifle but the overall shape was close. The 'off side' lock panel shows a hinged lock bolt...I saw one of these years ago on an British percussion match rifle. The breech block hinge pin has a matching screw on the opposite end. This eliminates the locking arm of the original breech pin. Roger Sampson did the modest engraving and Keith Kilby at Wyoming Armory did the color hardening.
