It may be interesting to some here that the book on professional gunstocking by David Wesbrook seems to be in reprint now. I just bought a new copy on ebay for less than $50. This is a book that normally sold, used, for $300 or more when you could find a copy. I don't know who's publishing it.

I spoke with David on Friday and he said it is selling very briskly. He had been talking with a couple of different publishers but Wolfe did the reprint and he is please with the quality. The original has exceptional quality photo reproduction as David is one of the premier firearms photographers. I expect to have a copy of the second edition in a few weeks and will report on it.

Well, excellent - I'm glad someone took a chance on this. I never expected to see it in the flesh, publishing being the way it is now.

My copy came in about a week ago. It is excellent with crisp images on quality paper. Well worth the price.

Sure glad I didn't pay $250 for one 2 years ago, fortunately a kind soul let me borrow his copy.

I got my copy today - I'm completely impressed. What a work. Tremendous precision of thought and execution. Exquisite detail on stocking a bolt action rifle. Also 5 or 6 chapters on finishing, each by different stockmakers, including Monte Mandarino and Mark Silver. Worth twice the price.

The book is excellent and the illustrations superb, but this is supposed to be Volume I and covers semi finished or machine inlet stocks. Volume II covered making a stock from a blank. Was Volume II ever published? If so I hope Wolfe publishers will follow with Volume II. In the meantime Volume I was, for me, well worth the money and then some.

I spoke with David today, Volume Two is not in the cards at this time. We are quite lucky to have Volume I, and that it was reprinted.
Dave will be the Dallas Safari Club Show in January, along with several ACGG members displaying together.
