I have two problems. The first one is the safety doesn't click when pushed forward. Is there a part on the underside of the top tang that I'm missing? There are no drawings available from Numrich or parts for that matter. Second problem, the stock is a little short. Can I buy a black spacer from someone that I can fit and finish, sand the sides down to fit the stock?

Thanks Steve, can those spacers be sanded down to match the stock of the gun? And am I missing a part underneath the safety? There is a faint click when you push it forward is that part worn out?
I take it from the lack of responses everyone is kind of telling me to quit asking stupid questions and start taking the gun apart and find out for myself.
I get it.

The click may just be the button moving in and out of position. It is supposed to move a lever, it may be broken or disengaged or just gunked up with crud. Pull the stock off and take a look. Never be afraid of taking something apart. Be afraid of putting it back together... Rob

There is a large strange looking piece that operates the auto safety, if this is what you're missing I have several as I don't like auto safeties. Send me your address via PM and I'll give them all to you!!

Oh and yes, the spacers are grind to fit, and come in several general sizes so measure your stock first. Also if the gun has a pad already Galazan sells long (like an 1 1/2") Silvers repro pads, this could be an option too, if originality is not a concern. (Why should it be if you're going to shoot it a lot)

Thanks Steve but I have that arm that operates the automatic safety but thank you for the offer.
The shotgun has an original butt plate on it, so I have to get something thats close and then grind it down to fit my stock? Is that how you do it?
Thanks Rob for that information that really helps out a lot. Ill have to agree; being that there is no piece that the top button slide over its just worn out over the years.

Okay, I got it now. I was using the wrong term on Midway's web-site's search engine by typing in the term 'Butt PLATE spacer. When I searched under the term butt STOCK spacer thats when I got all of the products you guys were telling me about and what I was looking for, complete with measurements. Ill learn how to use these dang blasted computers someday!!

I agree on keeping originality. I use a file and blue masking tape for final fitting. You can do the rough work by marking with a scribe and grinding down to it with a belt sander or similar device.
