I am feeling the need to put a nice oil finish on my 1924 Flues. I started disassembly, removing the top tang screw, trigger guard screws, and the screw from behind the triggers going up to the tang. I tried to unscrew the trigger guard and it caught on the front trigger. I couldn't get it to clear to remove the screw in front of the triggers, thus the trigger plate. I studied the patent drawings to no avail. I've done a number of guns in the past and never had this problem. Has anyone any insight into how to remove the trigger guard and the plate screw (assuming it is required for stock removal)?

Dry fire it with a block of hardwood against the standing breech. You can then pull the triggers out of the way as you spin out the guard.

Do this first next time, before removing the tang screws. When you have removed the front triggerplate screw you can then carefully drive the triggerplate off with a dowel or brass punch placed in the milled recess in the watertable. Be mindful to catch the trip and it's spring when the t-plate comes free. Also, return the top lever to center as soon as you remove the top tang screw.

Hope this helps, Dan
