I have a Moncrief and Gye double rifle that is marked Reregulated by Alex Henry and on the bottom of the tubes Henry's patent rifling, A&T with serial number. Does anyone know if the Adams and Tait records survive? How about Moncrief and Gye? Alexander Henry? Thanks, JAP PS, this has been reamed out to a 28 gauge shotty.

I've only scanned a source or two and can add very little but Gye & Moncrieff was a partnership that peddled longarms from 60 St. James's Street, London from 1876 to about 1885, when they appear to have moved to 44 Dover Street and dropped off the map in 1887. I haven't seen one or searched for the patent(1878??) but they designed some odd breech extension lock-up to compete with the Purdey lock-up with interfaced with the lumps of the tubes.

Alexander Moncrieff of Perth, Scotland?

Brian, pleasure us with some pics and any idea of the date?

"Chapter XV

Gunmaker and Stories

About this time I tried yet another profession, and joined Lionel Gye, late R.A., and my friend Lynedoch Moncrieff, who had retired from the Navy, and had together started in the gun and rifle business in St. James’s Street.

I found it very interesting, and learnt all the secrets of the trade at Birmingham and at Liege. We did much business with Scott and with Webley, of Birmingham, whose businesses were afterwards joined in a company, and have been so well known."

Interesting read/insight and I'm curious as to how heavily Belgium was sourced:
