Very nice Jim. Roger's work is bested by none.

Please tell us about the rest of the rifle and show pictures when you can. It looks very nice!

Terry,
Still need to send off for Case Hardening, blue the barrel and final assembly. Pictures likely in 6 weeks or so.

I would think anyone would be pleased with that quality of engraving! Simply gorgeous!

That is beautiful work indeed.

Jim, how finally polished was this when you sent it off to be engraved? I'm assuming you did the final polishing before the engraving was started.

Jim, I see "Jim Westberg 2012" on the lever, did it really take 5 years to get it engraved?

Brent,
Metal is finished to an honest 320. Oiled with WD40 and rubbed with 4/0 steel wool. Latter mostly removes directional striations and changes bright finish to satin. A finish finer than above seems to muddy the case hardening.

Rob,
I was surprised also at 2012. That was about when the customer and I first talked about the project. I think Roger is about a year behind on major jobs but best to check with him.

Thanks Jim. The steel wool treatment is a great idea I had not heard or thought of.

Nice engraving, in keeping with early 20th Century American scroll. Gold borders should look great on case colors.
You might try gray scotchbrite dry for blending, works for me.

The 2012 dating sounds like my delivery non~schedule~~
