today I saw a Holland and Holland sidelock, made around 1890. The barrels are dovetail lump, steel, bear post 1954 proof marks. I am guessing they are replacement barrels. The address on the brrels is 13 Bruton Street.

On the flats, near the chamber end of the right barrel there is a well formed stamp about 1/16 inch high stating LP 75.

Could this be the stamp of the barrel maker? Something else? I have seen many Hollands over the years but never saw a similar stamp before.

This is the date stamp of the reproof at the London Proof house (LP) in 1975 (75).

Date marks

London

The initial London date stamp from 1972 also included the letter “H”, but that was dropped and after that it has only the letters “LP”

The millenium was stamped as “MM”.

Thanks Toby and Skeettx. Now we know this Holland was rebarreled in 1975. A comparative youngster in terms of barrels.

Also figured out that all the Hollands I handled in the past were pre 1972. Lucky me!
