George has been MIA from the board the past few weeks and I was finally able to speak with his son and George today. Despite being sedated and strapped to a surgical table, the docs were unable to kill him during cardiac surgery and an endarterectomy of the carotid artery. He is in good spirits and should be back in action soon. Gil
get well soon, from my camp to his.
Get well soon, Geo.

Glad he is doing well. He has consistently replied intelligently to my uninformed inquiries.
Any previous generally applied but mean spirited jokes about lawyers and what should befall them, I take back. George, hope you are up and about soon.
Thanks Gil for letting us know.
My sincere wishes for a speedy and full recovery George.
Best regards,
JBP
Get well soon George, I enjoy your posts and pictures.
I was wondering where Geo has been recently. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Hang in there Geo, do whatever it takes to get yourself patched up.
Get well soon George, we're praying for you.

Craig
Best wishes from over here to over there, George.

Best wishes for a fast recovery George.
Be seeing you soon on the old DG BBS.
Get well soon. Avoid all doctors as best you can.
Prayers for a speedy recovery George.
We're praying for your recovery, George. I'll remember you tomorrow morning as I end the dove season shooting in the rain. I promise to say to myself, "This one's for George", as I deck a dove.
Hope to see you back in fine fettle soon.
Stan
Always sad to hear one of the "regulars" having serious health issues. Get well soon, Geo!
This couldn't wait until AFTER bird season, Geo? Good heavens, get your priorities in order, Squire.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Thanks for keeping us posted, Gil.
Best,
Ted
He was dove hunting when he first became symptomatic. He'll fill in details when he figures out his laptop's password. <g> Gil
geo: always a pleasure to banter with you...best wishes for a speedy recovery...ed
Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery George.
Don't die, Geo! We need you. The country needs you. And your great little dog.
Just listen to your doctors and you'll be back in no time.
George prayers sent.If I can do anything for you let me know. Bobby
George,
I made good my promise this morning. I sat in the rain for 1 1/2 hrs. until a lone dove flew into range. I stood, took him, and said "This one's for my buddy, George", as I picked him up.
Truth be known, I'd have done it anyway.
Best wishes, Stan
Have an easy recovery. Sincere regards.
Speedy recovery and sunny days!
Thanks for all you do!
Mike
Get well soon George, the birds are waiting on you.
Hey Gil, any updates on Geo?
Spoke with his son yesterday and George is progressing favorably through rehab. Gil
Good to hear Gil. Thanks for the update.
Thank you all for the kind and encouraging words. Especially he prayers! This is my 1st post since the adventure. Also the 1st time I've opened my computer in a month; lots of good reading waiting for me.
For any with a morbid interest: Chest and arm pains on a dove shoot Dec. 5th. Went away so I figured acid reflux. Same again on dove shoot next weekend.
Called Doc next day as used magic words; chest pain. Primary care doc did EKG and it was different from this Summer.
Referral to Heart specialist and he did stress test, abnormal. Entered hospital last tuesday in Dec for heart cath, and been there since till. Referred to Heart surgeon.
They did open carotid artery opening on Friday, open heart on monday. Seven by-passes, din't know you could get that many. Used vein from leg. All fine till friday when things went south.
Had to re-do both the carotid and heart surgery on emergency basis to remove clots. 2nd surgery busted my butt.
Spent 2 weeks in hospital cardiac recovery and home now. Tough recovery...Geo
Welcome back Geo, easy does it.
George, good to hear that you are on the road to recovery.
I didn't go through what you did, I had 3 blockages in two arteries. After balloning didn't hold they put two stents in and knock on wood things are going well. It will be 18 years this Feb.
Stay on the regime and you will be back doing the same.
Glad to see you again Geo! Take it easy and rest up. I want to see you putting the hurt on those Georgia turkeys this spring!
Geo.
Glad to have you back with us, I think it is wonderful, what they are able to do, today.
Mike
Good to see you back George, there are more spring gobbler seasons ahead.
Take care of yourself.
TC
Wishing you a speedy recovery there George, sounds like rough ordeal you went through, but your still kicking,
best to you

Here we thought the reason we hadn't heard from you was that you still couldn't remember your laptop's password as Gil had told us. Glad to hear you are home and on the mend.
George get well fast! Bobby
Thanks for the update, buddy. So glad you are home, and recovering. That's progress. One of my best friends had a heart valve replacement two years ago this month. Knocked him back hard, too, but he is back at work at 72 yrs. of age, and is pulling pumps out of deep drilled wells, wrasslin' pipe wrenches as big as a 4 yr. old gator. You can get there, too. Hang tough.
All my best, SRH

That is the plan. .410 single shot Savage/ Stevens model 220 and some tungston super shot shells Gill loaded for me...Geo

Wishing you a speedy recovery, geo. Prolly helps knowing you have many friends pulling and praying for you, but don't get a big head or nuthin'. The buzzard thread has eight pages.

Lonesome, if Larry Brown becomes convinced that Geo's heart issues were due to his exposure to lead shot, this thread could go on forever.
Hey wait a minute... other guys here have had heart problems... and they use lead shot and eat game killed with lead shot... therefore-- Lead Shot = Heart Problems! There can be no other explanation!
See all the fun you've been missing Geo?
The only way geo is going to beat the buzzard is if he gobbles down a couple of Clapper Zapper's Ortolan blasted at close range with an ounce and a quarter of 10's. Should get him the anti lead sympathy vote.
ps geo: pic of you wearing the hood thingy please.

That's the funniest thing you've ever posted , lonesome. Great sense of humor.
SRH
Lonesome, as requested a pic of me in my "hoody thing".
That's me on the right. If you meant some other sort of "hoody thing" please clarify.
Hopefully to end this dreary thread, thanks again to all who have posted encouragement. My recovery is coming along well and I was able to attend a director's meeting at the bank last week. Back to work when it feels right, God willing...Geo

Hear, hear!!
SRH
Good to have you back Geo!!!
Glad to hear your coming along well Geo. Just don't let all those young and physically fit female PT assistants get your heart up to much!
Glad you made it back George!
But, just in case, would you tell your bride that you have a couple of guns that I would be interested in should you suddenly kick the bucket, God forbid. Please tell her, in that case, to PM me. Tell her I will give her every penny you told her you paid for them.
Best,
Mike
Mike,
Nothing like the close friends you make on a gun board???...Geo
Glad to hear your coming along well Geo. Just don't let all those young and physically fit female PT assistants get your heart up to much!
nca, I'll admit to falling in love with at least one of my nurses. The lovely PT trainers in rehab seemed to have way too much testosterone to suit me though. Home now, my home health PT trainer played football for the Georgia Bulldogs, nuff said.
When you get heart surgery, they give you this neat little heart shaped pillow thingy and try to terrify you into clutching it to your chest at all times with visions of your breastbone splitting back open. I figured out pretty quick though that the real reason for it is just to keep the patients from trying to grope the nurses...Geo
George,
I'm very happy you are back home. You have a few months to get ready for next years hunting season.
Mike

Geo, just keep the thinking about the lady nurses that are easy on the eyes when getting PT from the football player. Hopefully it will make the PT go by faster and reach your goals sooner!
And as a gesture of my friendship, please relay to your wife that I will pay twice as much for that 20Ga Lefever A grade then what you told her it cost. Just two conditions, first is that there is no need to thank me, (What else would a good friend do?) and second, I don't want it to come up for sale for at least a good long while.

Holy crap! Anyone got change for a three dollar bill?
I think I can speak for Geo on this one.... Pretty much the exact opposite of what he would find attractive!
