Most of us know about this year as being the last up in Milbrook. I've heard that it's going to be in Virginia next year, some place called Pin Tail or something like that?
Any of you folks who were up there last week get any information about this?
The word I heard is it will be at Pintail Point Farm in Queenstown, MD. I've been there a few times at sporting tournaments and it is a quality club. As an aside let me say they have mostly auto traps, allowing a wider variety of presentations as compared with hand sets. I've also shot ZZ birds at Pintail so that may add a new venue to the Vintagers. Silvers

I assume that the Pintail Point proprietors will have some very upscale shooting experiences for those who do such things. The shooting guru at Pintail (Yes, on the payroll) is Ben Wise, son of Bill Wise. I am anxiously awaiting the next Vintagers. Murphy
There is a Southern Vintagers planned by Ray Poudier in the Houston area in the Spring. Yankees are invited too.
If your travelling in to town to go to Pintail Point budget enough time to:
1) visit the Museum at NRA. It's well worth setting the time aside. See among other things, all 3 Parker Invincibles
2) sneak over to St Michaels, a little town right on the water where there is a nice museum covering the Chesapeake Bay watermen. Eat some crabs while your there.
3) If your driving down from the northeast stop in Havre de Grace and hit the decoy museum, in addition to decoys there are boats, a few guns and the inside of Madison Mitchells original decoy shed. It overlooks the Sesquehanna flats, epicenter of market gunning for waterfowl.
4) As you drive south toward DC the army ordinance museum at Aberdeen is right off 95

Queenstown, MD is even better. Thank the Lord they hold the Vintage Cup after Labor Day, the flood of traffic across the Bay Bridge is a nightmare from people going to and from Ocean City.
I killed a lot of geese around Queenstown in the early 80's but never saw anything that made it "better".
Can't remember the name but there is a place on Kent Island that serves great fried clams. Not those stoopid clam strips like you see in new england, they fry whole small clams, and they had great chowder too. When the weather was good and cold I used to stop there on the way home from gunning down around Winona. It was perfect.

Jeff, Anglers is the next step up from a biker bar, used to serve $1.00 bourbons and a real big basket of spiced shrimp for $5.95 at happy hour. I have never fought there but I have been close. I don't know what it's like after the fire. Women and children are in regular attendance. This is not going to be like Millbrook, guys.

The Vintage Cup is coming to Queenstown??
Thats great news, at least for us Marylanders.
The last time I went to the Vintage Cup was in 2000.

Yeah, Jeff, under the bridge at Kent Narrows in the marina complex. The Narrows is across the street and a bit more upscale,(no fighting).
Don't forget the bikini contests at Redeye's Dock Bar at the Narrows!
My shop is in Queenstown, live in Annapolis. I know of the tie-ups at the Bay Bridge!
Other shooting venues in the area include Schrader's Sporting Clays, Hopkin's Game Farm and Clays, (soon to be defunct)J&P's Hunting Lodge and Clays, Talbot Trap and Skeet, and Anne Arundel Fish and Game (trap & skeet) to name a few.

Hold on a minute there Jeff. If you get "clam strips" here in New England you're dining at the wrong place. We consider clam strips to be cheap "pub food" and nothing more. Come visit New England sometime and when you do contact me and I will personally take you to Ipswich or Essex Massachusetts where whole clams are fried properly and you may never want to return home after sampling our fare of the finest shellfish in the world. Dean and Jeff, I'm no waterman, but I do remember buying great plump steamers at Safeway for a nickel. My ex and I would pound them down by the bag. I guess I've always been a bottom feeder.
The Homestead was on the rumor mill list of possible places for 2007.
I used to do business with them and have been there a number of times. I would not go there for a Vintagers.
You pretty much end up staying there and eating their food at their prices, there are few reasonable alternatives nearby.

Wow, the vintagers at Pintail Point. That's great news. And that's only 30 miles from Bill Wise's house.
We have to get Bill up and running so he can make the short commute on a daily basis during the event. And speaking of Bill, what is the latest news? I haven't heard anything in a while.
I used to keep a sailboat in Annapolis and always loved going up to that area. The best place for crabs that I found was Mike's Crab House (a local favorite) on the South River in Riva, a suburb of Annapolis. Hope it's still there. There are not many prettier areas than Annapolis and the Eastern Shore along the bay.
As for the Homestead, it would be a great place for the event, but there's really only one place to stay and it isn't cheap. There's nowhere else in the area, so accomodating such a crowd and event would be a real limiting factor.
